We ask that you read this privacy policy carefully to understand how your personal data is collected, processed and stored when using the Connecting U Application (here in after “the Application”).

Under this privacy policy, the person responsible for processing the collection of personal data is Connecting U, a simplified joint stock company whose head office is located at 35 rue Gros 75016 Paris, registered with the Paris RCS under number 829108789 (here in after “Connecting U”, “we”, “us” and “our”).

1. When can we collect personal data about you?

We receive and process a certain amount of information, which may include personal data concerning you when you access and use the Application, in particular when:

  • you complete any information form on the Application, in particular when you register or when you update the information in your user account,
  • during your use of the Application, in particular when you transfer personal data concerning you to other users.

2. What personal data do we collect?

When you register on the Application, you will be asked to enter a certain amount of personal data necessary for the creation of your user account and allowing you to be identified when you connect to the Application.

When you connect to the Application, we collect your connection data, i.e. information which is automatically recorded by our servers when you access the Application or when you use it, whether you are or not registered as a member of the Application.

During your use of the Application, you may transmit to other Users of the Application certain data concerning you, such as in particular data on your centers of interest, the composition of your family, a description of your homestay (if you offer the homestay), your language skills as well as your travels.

3. For what purposes and legal bases do we collect your personal data?

We collect, process and store your personal data for the following purposes:

-When you use the Application and create a user account, the personal data concerning you will be processed and stored to allow the creation of your user account and for the purposes of proper administration of the services offered by other users via the Application, in accordance with the commitments of our general conditions of use. The processing of your personal data is therefore based on compliance with our contractual commitments.

-We also collect your connection data and data relating to your use of the Application as detailed above, for the purposes of proper administration of the connection services offered via the Application, in accordance with the commitments of our conditions general usage. The processing of your personal data is therefore based on compliance with our contractual commitments.

-As part of the proper administration of the Application, we may also collect your personal data in order to send you emails concerning your registration on the Application, technical notifications, updates, security alerts. The processing of your personal data is therefore also based on our legitimate interest in administering our Application.

Subject to being made anonymous and not being able to allow your identification, we may also use your personal data to produce statistics on the use of the Application.

4. Who will be the people who can have access to your personal data?

The personal data belonging to you will only be accessible by authorized persons and for the purposes strictly necessary for their respective missions. This may include members of the following teams: customer service, support service and technical assistance.

We may also share your personal data in the following situations:

-Your personal data may be transmitted to our host, allowing us to provide access to the Application in compliance with the contractual conditions signed with this host and cannot derogate from the conditions of this privacy policy.

-Your personal data may also be communicated, if necessary, to the police services (on judicial requisition) or to any person legally authorized to receive this information (on court order).

5. How will your data be hosted?

We take care to secure the personal data of users in an adequate and appropriate manner and have taken the necessary precautions in order to preserve and have preserved by our hosting subcontractors the security and confidentiality of the data and in particular to prevent them from being distorted, damaged or communicated to unauthorized persons.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet, and no method of storage of electronic information, is 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot guarantee either the security of the data transmitted to us or that of the personal data that we keep. However, any possible security breach will be notified to you in strict compliance with the applicable regulations.

All the personal data we collect is hosted in the European Union. We do not transfer personal data to third parties established outside the European Union.

Any personal data will be destroyed immediately upon deletion of your user account on the Application. Your personal data will also be destroyed if you have not logged into your user account for a period of one (1) year.

They may, however, be archived on separate databases in order to meet our legal obligations for a period not exceeding five (5) years from their date of archiving.

6. Exercise of your rights

In accordance with European regulations on the protection of personal data, you have the following rights:

-A right of access allowing you at any time to know whether your personal data is or is not processed by our services and when it is, to have access to said personal data and to the information required by law concerning the methods processing of this data,

-A right of rectification allowing you to request that any inaccuracy concerning the personal data concerning you be corrected as soon as possible,

-A right to erasure, allowing you to request that your personal data be erased as soon as possible, provided that this erasure request complies with the conditions required by applicable law,

-A right to limit the processing of your personal data, provided that this request for limitation complies with the conditions required by applicable law,

-A right to portability allowing you to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or to request that this personal data be transmitted to another data controller, provided that this portability request complies with the conditions required by applicable law,

-A right to oppose the processing of your personal data for reasons relating to your particular situation, provided that this opposition complies with the conditions required by applicable law,

-The right to define directives relating to the storage, erasure and communication of your personal data after your death.

-In the event that the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you also have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.
